Exciting Project Ideas for Thesis / Internship

As a spin-off of the University of Würzburg, Emqopter is active in the dynamically growing market of drone technologies. To strengthen our team, we are looking for dedicated students (m/f/d) for theses and internships with a focus on drone technology/flight robotics, starting as of now.

Your requirements:
You are looking for a topic for your final thesis (bachelor's/master's thesis) or for an internship in the field of drone technology/flight robotics. You are enthusiastic about drones, their possibilities and new technologies in general. You have a scientific or technical background (or comparable), i.e. you study computer science, aerospace informatics, physics or something related to the topic.

Choice of topics for theses:
• Neural networks, correlation of image data and data fusion.
• GPS-based autonomous precise positioning (DGPS/RTK)
• Machine learning and neural networks for object recognition
• 3D mapping for a flying robot
• Obstacle detection and collision avoidance (e.g., using TOF, camera, radar, etc.)
• Design and development of a wind & weather resistant sensor module (dome)
• Charging station for delivery drones
• Storage mechanism for delivery drones
• Feeding mechanism for drones (design, control)
• Pick-n-place mini-fork robot for autonomous unloading of the drone:
o Software (return-to-home, driver, signal processing, control, pick / actuator).
o Evaluation / trials
o Mechanics / Design
o Payloads for autonomous drones: e.g. RFID, QR code, bar code, Audio (IN/OUT), LCD, screen, LED matrix, APP, ...
• Other similar issues and your own ideas are also welcome.
